ELFA Development League set to kick off next month
“I want to make a special plea to the teams to start now with their preparation, and not wait for the league."
SEDIBENG.- The Emfuleni Local Football Association (ELFA) Junior Leagues are scheduled to kick off next month for the 2026/27 season
This was revealed to Sedibeng Ster Sport by the ELFA Head of Development, Master Zondo. Zondo told Sedibeng Ster Sport that the teams must start preparing now and organise pre-season games or tournaments.
Reflecting, Zondo said they had a great season last year and hope that the next season will also be competitive. He was full of compliments for the high standard the teams set last season.
He told Sedibeng Ster Sport that he does not doubt that the standard of football in Emfuleni has improved a lot, especially in the junior leagues.
Zondo said the competition was high in all the ELFA streams last season. He said the teams now understand the importance of competing in the league.

He also believes that the Heist of Combo U12 Diski Challenge and Build It Tournament also contributed to the high standard of football in Emfuleni. These two significant tournaments were launched last year with the main aim of improving the standard of junior leagues.
“I want to make a special plea to the teams to start now with their preparation, and not wait for the league. Teams are free to organise their own programmes to prepare themselves for the league.
I must say, I was impressed with the standard of football in all our streams last season. My wish is that the teams do not drop the ball this season because what I saw last season was unbelievable to say the least,” said Zondo.
Zondo said if there are teams that want to join the league, they are more than welcome to contact the office for more information.
