Suspect shot and killed by victim during car hijacking
While he was selling vegetables, he was approached by three unknown men who were armed with firearms.
ORANGE FARMS.– A suspect did not expect what befell him when he tried to hijack a car in Extension 7, Orange Farms last Wednesday.
Police responded to a reported murder and car hijacking incident at approximately 08h:30, at Extension 7A, Orange Farms where upon their arrival they discovered the lifeless body of a man seated in the driver’s seat of a motor vehicle.
The deceased had sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

According to information provided by the victim, who alleges to be a vegetable supplier serving the local community in the area.
While he was selling vegetables, he was approached by three unknown men who were armed with firearms.
The suspects allegedly instructed the victim to alight from his bakkie and demanded cash while pointing firearms at him.
“The victim was forcibly removed from the vehicle, and the suspects intended to drive off when he managed to draw his licensed firearm and fired shots, fatally wounding one suspect who was seated in the driver’s seat of the vehicle. The remaining two suspects fled the scene on foot,” police spokesperson, Sergeant Shaan Motsapi, told Sedibeng Ster.
He added that the deceased suspect was later identified by family members.
“Case dockets of murder, carjacking, and possession of an illegal firearm have been opened for further investigation.”
