Attempted murder and armed robbery in Unitas Park

Neighbours and passers-by found the victim lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his stomach

VEREENIGING.- The Sedibeng District Police are investigating a case of attempted murder and armed robbery following a shooting incident in Unitas Park.

The incident occurred on January 19 at approximately 19:45 in Sherwell Street near the Gauteng Coaches premises.

Police spokesperson Sergeant Thembeka Maxambela said the victim was approached by two men while at the coach depot.

“During the confrontation, one of the suspects allegedly pulled out a gun and shot the man before both suspects fled the scene. Neighbours and passers-by found the victim lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his stomach. He was quickly taken to a nearby hospital, where he is currently being treated for his injuries.”

The suspects are still at large. Police are now calling on the public for help to find those responsible. Anyone with information can contact the nearest police station or Crime Stop on 08600 10111.
