SASOLBURG.- A mother and her five-year-old daughter passed away after being struck by a lightning in an informal settlement outside Sasolburg yesterday.

The Vaal Emergency Care Private Ambulance Services report that they received a distress call of a lightning strike involving a mother and two children in an informal settlement outside Sasolburg.

“After locating the scene, we assisted Free State EMS with stabilising a toddler who was carried by the mother when they were struck by lightning. Unfortunately, the mother and a 5-year-old passed away due to extensive injuries,” the report said.
