SEDIBENG.- While much of the talk is about the top of the SAFA Sedibeng Hollywoodbets Men’s Regional League, a grim battle is unfolding at the other end of the table.
Three local teams, Sebokeng United Brothers (SUBS) FC, Cheecky Boys Institute FC, and Sebokeng Ajax, are relegation candidates.
The situation is particularly dire for SUBS and Cheeky Boys. Both teams are stuck at the bottom of the log with just six points each from 12 games. Their records are identical, and worrying, with 10 losses and only two wins so far this season.
Sebokeng Ajax sits slightly higher in 16th place with 10 points, but they are far from safe.
It is going to be an uphill battle for both SUBS and Cheeky Boys to come out of relegation, looking at the teams above them.
The pressure mounts this weekend with tough fixtures: SUBS travel to Vanderbijlpark to face Metro Stars FC at Isak Steyl Stadium on Saturday. On the same day, Cheeky Boys will face Army Gym Shooting Stars FC, a side also challenging the league title.
Sedibeng Ster Sport will bring all the weekend results from various venues.
