This is rich coming from the ANC: DA

“Now, instead of taking full responsibility, the ANC seeks to reshuffle positions and deploy new cadres to 'take over' a limping municipality."

SEDIBENG. – “It is rich that the ANC is now calling for Mayor Radebe’s resignation—after years of their own mismanagement have left Emfuleni financially crippled, service delivery collapsing, and residents paying the price”.

This was said by the Democratic Alliances (DA’s) Daddy Mollo who said this after the ANC in Sedibeng called for the resignation of Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) last week.

Mollo, who is the DA’s Emfuleni Central Constituency Political Head, said that the financial instability, failing infrastructure, sewage spillages, water shortages, deteriorating roads, and mounting debt did not happen overnight as they are the direct result of ANC-led governance, poor oversight, and a culture of cadre deployment that prioritises political loyalty over competence.

“Now, instead of taking full responsibility, the ANC seeks to reshuffle positions and deploy new cadres to ‘take over’ a limping municipality—continuing the same cycle that has brought Emfuleni to its knees. Residents cannot be fooled by cosmetic changes while the system of patronage remains intact.”

Mollo said that ELM does not need internal ANC factional battles, but needs:

  • Real financial recovery and clean governance
  • Skilled and qualified leadership
  • Accountability for those who mismanaged public funds
  • Service delivery that restores dignity to communities

“I believe that accountability must go beyond recalling one individual. The entire culture of mismanagement must end. Emfuleni deserves transparent leadership, sound financial management, and a government that works for the people—not for political survival. That government in waiting is the Democratic Alliance.”
