VANDERBIJLPARK.- Local football fans left Isak Steyl Stadium disappointed on Saturday after Sekhukhune United and Kaizer Chiefs Reserves played to a goalless draw.

The DStv Diski Challenge fixture failed to meet expectations, with both teams struggling to find any rhythm throughout the match.

In the first half, neither side managed to create any decent scoring opportunities as they hardly put together any decent passes.

The game was too tactical, with both teams cautious in their attack.

The play can be compared to a game of chess, with both squads showing perhaps too much respect for one another. The Kaizer Chiefs coaching staff were seen urging their players to be more patient and avoid rushing their decisions. Chiefs Coach Vela Khumalo made some changes but failed to inject some life into this game.

Local talent Naledi ‘Njabulo’ Hlongwane was also substituted, even though he had a decent game.

His family and many local fans came in numbers to support one of their own. This game was played before the Soweto Derby between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates at FNB Stadium later that afternoon.
