World Obesity Day Indaba at Saul Tsotetsi

The Indaba focused on obesity prevention as a critical public health intervention.

SEDIBENG. – The MEC for Health and Wellness, Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko, led a major provincial meeting this week to confront the growing health challenge of obesity.

The World Obesity Day Indaba, held at the Saul Tsotetsi Sports Centre in Sebokeng, brought together health experts, government officials, and private partners under the theme “8 billion Reasons to Act on Obesity”.

The Indaba focused on obesity prevention as a critical public health intervention to reduce Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) in the province, including children.

Key figures at the gathering included the General Manager of Novo Nordisk, Sara Nocross, health experts, community leaders, civil society, and private partners. By strengthening partnerships between the government and the private sector, the province aims to create a stronger front against the obesity crisis
