Sebokeng police warn of hijackers who demand ransom money

The victims are further forced to download banking apps and their money will be transferred to unknown bank accounts."

SEBOKENG: The Sebokeng police would like to appeal to the community members to take precautionary safety measures as there is a high rise in house robberies, hijackings and kidnappings.

” The Station Commander Brigadier Thembekile Kubone urges the community members to always be alert as criminals commit crimes at any given time. The criminals tend to change their crime trends whereby they hijacked and kidnapped vulnerable individuals who recently received payouts or are awaiting to receive payments. The victims are further forced to download banking apps and their money will be transferred to unknown bank accounts,” said police spokesperson, Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane.

The police plead with public to refrain from disclosure of their finances to strangers and to always be alert at all times.

During the past weeks most of the courier vehicles were targeted and the victims were robbed of the property that was meant to be delivered to customers.

The Station Commander Brigadier Thembekile Kubone urges the public to always be vigilant as the suspects are still and large and it is currently unknown where they operate from. It is really alarming because some victims are left at open velds and others left injured at the crime scenes.
