SEDIBENG. – In response to the said ongoing talks between the African National Congress (ANC) in Sedibeng and the EFF the Pan Africanist Congress of Azania (PAC) has said that it rejects the suggestion that it can be replaced “like a political tool”.
Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Jason Mkhwane, ANC Sedibeng Secretary, said that the ANC has resolved to replace the Pan Africanist Congress (PAC) following their recent contestation/s of positions in the ELM and the SDM.
PAC also tabled a Motion of No Confidence (MoNC) against Lerato Maloka, SDM Mayor. The party had planned to table another MoNC against ELM Mayor, Sipho Radebe soon. Together with other smaller political parties, the PAC is in coalition with the ANC in both the SDM and the ELM.
Talk between EFF and ANC are currently underway
It has not been mentioned yet how the ANC Gauteng/Sedibeng will be working with the EFF in both the SDM and ELM. Talks between the two parties are currently underway and are expected to end by the end of the week.
“The Pan Africanist Congress of Azania (PAC) rejects, with the contempt it deserves, the arrogant suggestion by the African National Congress (ANC) in Sedibeng that the PAC can be “replaced” like a disposable political tool,” said the PAC’s Apa Pooe.
The PAC does not exist to decorate…
Pooe further said that the PAC is not a project of the ANC.
“We are a liberation movement forged in struggle, answerable only to the African people—not to coalition convenience or political expediency. The PAC does not exist to decorate failing governments,” Pooe added.
Furthermore, Pooe said that his party’s tabling of MoNC’s in the SDM was a direct response to governance failures, collapse of service delivery, and political arrogance.
“We acted because the people are suffering—not because we are chasing positions. If the ANC chooses to align with the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF), that is their political choice. But they must not distort reality.”
We do not fear any removal…
In conclusion Pooe said that they do not fear removal from coalition arrangements.
“In fact, we welcome any political clarity that frees the PAC from being associated with dysfunction, instability, and anti-people governance.”
To the people of Sedibeng Pooe said,
- The PAC will never betray your interests for positions
- The PAC will hold the powerful accountable without apology
- The PAC will stand firm, whether in government or outside it.
“The struggle for land, service delivery, dignity, and true liberation cannot be reduced to coalition bargaining. The PAC remains unshaken.”
EFF Gauteng spokesperson, Dumisani Baleni, said that the EFF continuously engages different political organisations including the ANC, in an attempt to establish a stable government that delivers services.
“We have also been in conversations with the ANC in the Gauteng Provincial and in Sedibeng and Emfuleni about serious concerns of service delivery, state of finances and governance.”
