Gauteng Provincial Legislature visits Bophelong

The committee has undertaken to conduct a follow-up meeting.

BOPHELONG. – The Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL) Portfolio Committee on Human Settlements, led by Chairperson Dr Nomathemba Mokgethi, conducted an oversight visit to Bophelong Wards 6, 7, and 23 following concerns raised by residents regarding ongoing sanitation challenges and delays in the provision of properly functioning sanitation facilities.

Seeking solutions…

The committee engaged with the Department of Human Settlements and local stakeholders to seek urgent and sustainable solutions to address the matter.

The Committee further committed to closely monitoring and following up with the Department on interventions aimed at providing alternative sanitation solutions for the community of Bophelong.

In addition, the committee has undertaken to conduct a follow-up meeting with the affected wards to assess progress on the interventions and continue engaging residents on the matter.
