HELL NO, not again, SAFA!

A good actor knows when to leave the stage!

SEDIBENG.- This is not the first time the South African Football Association (SAFA) embarrassed itself when least expected.

Previously, the country was deducted three points because SAFA failed to notice that Bafana Bafana midfielder Teboho Mokoena was suspended. Sadly, nothing happened, and it was business as usual at the SAFA head offices, with no accountability for those responsible.

Hell no, not again, SAFA!

This mistake nearly cost the country a place in the Fifa World Cup, but SAFA clearly did not learn from it. Bafana Bafana was supposed to jet out of the country to Mexico on Sunday, but failed to do so because of Visa issues.

Really?

There was excuse after excuse as to why the team didn’t fly.

HELL NO, not again, SAFA!

Zakes’ Sports Corner believes there is zero accountability at SAFA Headquarters. This is a recurring issue for Bafana Bafana, but this time it is even worse because we are talking about the Fifa World Cup 2026 nogal, the biggest stage in the world. This is not a mediocre, local Kasi football tournament that anyone can play in.

No!

People have been calling for his head

Zakes’ Sports Corner must admit that under Danny Jordaan’s administration, South African football seems to be going to the dogs.

For a while now, SAFA has faced crisis after crisis.

Who can forget when SAFA was summoned before the Parliament Sports Portfolio Committee to account for the mismanagement of funds?

For some time now, people have been calling for Jordaan to resign as SAFA president, but without success. Many believe he has taken South African football nowhere. For the past few years, Jordaan has made headlines for all the wrong reasons.

Knowing when to leave the stage

Zakes’ Sports Corner believes it is time for Jordaan to do an honourable thing and step down as SAFA president.

There is no doubt that the man played a significant role in South African football, especially when the country won the bid to host the 2010 World Cup. He was part of the delegation that worked tirelessly to ensure the African continent hosted the Fifa World Cup for the first time in history.

For that contribution, Zakes’ Sports Corner salutes him.

But having said that, a good actor knows when to leave the stage!
