First waste transfer station opened in Sebokeng

SEBOKENG – “Cleaner communities start with better waste solutions”, so said the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) Executive Mayor, Hassan Mako when he jointly with the MMC Waste, Jonas Radebe and the Acting Municipal Manager, Thandiwe Mathebula, officially opened a new waste transfer station in Zone 7, Sebokeng this week.

The municipality said that this facility will help it to manage waste more efficiently, reduce illegal dumping, and keep local streets and neighbourhoods cleaner for residents.
We intend to suppress illegal dumping hotspots in and around Sebokeng through faster collection turnaround times.
“The station will serve as a central point for waste consolidation before final disposal at the Palm Springs landfill site.”

The municipality intends to suppress illegal dumping hotspots in and around Sebokeng through faster collection turnaround times for Zones 3, 6, 7, 10 and 11.
“Ultimately, the transfer station will assist the municipality realizing a cleaner and healthier environment for residents.”
