DA leader leads service delivery blitz in Evaton
DA Federal Leader Geordin Hill-Lewis joined newly elected Ward 28 Councillor Maki Tshabalala in Evaton for a service delivery blitz focused on clearing illegal dumping sites and engaging residents.
EVATON – On June 27, the DA Federal Leader, Geordin Hill-Lewis, joined the newly elected Ward 28 Councillor, Maki Tshabalala, in Evaton, where they conducted a service delivery blitz to fulfil the promise of better service for residents.
Present on the day were DA mayoral candidates Kingsol Chabalala and Peter Teixeira, along with activists and residents in Ward 28, to celebrate the historic victory. During the blitz, the teams helped clear illegal dumping areas. Hill-Lewis cited that the work being carried out is exactly what residents voted for.
“We are in Evaton to celebrate a historic DA by-election victory and to support practical service delivery work underway in the community. This is what residents voted for, not more promises, but visible action. Not speeches alone, but a councillor and a party that shows up and gets things done.

“The DA’s victory in Emfuleni earlier in June, and our strong by-election win in Rustenburg this week, show that the DA can go into any community, earn trust, and win. We are building a party for every South African who wants safer streets, cleaner communities, better services, jobs and dignity.”
Hill-Lewis said communities like Evaton have been failed by governments that arrive at election time and disappear afterwards.
“The DA is building a different kind of politics: present, practical, honest and accountable. We are building to govern in many more municipalities to show the DA difference. And we are building towards a DA-led national government in 2029 that can bring this same approach to South Africa,” he said.

Previously, Tshabalala told Ster North that there is a lot of work to be done in her ward. She highlighted sewage problems, illegal dumping, and power outages, stating that she is ready to tackle the problems head-on.
The second part of the day was a celebration joined in by DA leaders, activists, and the community at large.
