Zone 17 has power again after nearly 4 years in the dark
The DA will keep showing up and keep fighting for residents in Emfuleni, every single day.
SEBOKENG.- For nearly four years, the residents of Zone 17 lived in complete darkness without electricity. During this long period, children had to study by candlelight, local businesses lost their stock, families were forced to cook on paraffin stoves, and elderly residents were left vulnerable at night.

Although the community did everything right by logging complaints, they were simply passed from one office to another while waiting in vain for Eskom to act.
Within just one week of his involvement, a new transformer was delivered and installed.
This difficult situation changed when DA Councillor Hlalele Mosuane took on the case. He dealt with the problem directly, bypassed the usual delays, and ensured that action was taken. Within just one week of his involvement, a new transformer was delivered and installed, which finally restored power to Zone 17.

“Having electricity again means much more than just lights for community members. It brings safety after dark, working fridges, and the ability for children to do homework without straining their eyes. It also allows local shops to stay open later, restoring dignity to a community that had almost given up hope. Mosuane stated that no community should be forgotten for four years. The DA will keep showing up and keep fighting for residents in Emfuleni, every single day, until services are where they should be. While Zone 17 waited far too long, the restoration of their power shows what accountable, hands-on representation is supposed to look like,” Mosuane said.
