Tseki Senior Secondary School Alumni unite to preserve school’s legacy
The school will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year
VANDERBIJLPARK.- Former scholars and principals of Tseki Senior Secondary School are working together to preserve the school’s legacy.
The interim board of the school’s alumni recently held a meeting at a guest house in Bedworth Park to discuss their shared goals.

Although the school is located in Tseki Village within QwaQwa, the alumni invite all former students and headteachers to celebrate its existence every 10 years.
Joe Makoanyane, a former principal of the school and the founder of this initiative, explained to Sedibeng Ster that the main objective is to protect the school’s history for future generations.
He noted that the school will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year. To support this vision, former students established a board to oversee the project and ensure the school’s legacy continues to inspire others.

Sharing some history of the school, Makoanyane explained that it began in 1976 with just two classes in a temporary building. At that time, it was led by an acting principal named Mr Motsau while the permanent school was being built in Tseki Village. In 1977, the original class of 1976 moved into the new building and hostels as the school’s very first matriculants.

Makoanyane was then appointed as the principal of the new facility, which was officially named Tseki Senior Secondary School. Over the years, the board has supported the school by giving motivational speeches, providing sanitary pads, planting trees, and supplying books to the library.

The board operates under a formal constitution and is currently working to register as a non-profit organisation so it can officially receive and account for donated funds. Makoanyane concluded by noting that the school has a proud history of producing many leaders in both the private and public sectors.
