SHARPEVILLE.- Bambanani Tirisano Youth Development joined millions of South Africans on Saturday to celebrate Mandela Day by honouring the legacy of the iconic former president, Nelson Mandela.

In a joint initiative with the Gauteng Department of Environment youth and Botle Ke Botho, the organisations devoted their 67 minutes to serving others and uplifting the community through a cleaning campaign.

The nationwide day of charity saw people across the country rolling up their sleeves for various community projects, with these specific groups focusing their efforts on cleaning open spaces, including the Sharpeville Clinics.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Lebohang Moloi from Bambanani Tirisano Youth Development hailed the day as a huge success. She expressed her gratitude to the Gauteng Department of Environment for its commitment to supporting local community initiatives. She specifically highlighted the contributions of department employees Veronica Molopo, Bently Nofemela, and Tiisetso Tshwane in making the event possible.

“I want to thank all the stakeholders who came on board to make the awareness campaign a memorable one. The 67 minutes were well spent by everyone dedicated to doing something special for the community,” said Moloi.

She added that the organisation truly appreciated everyone’s effort. “I really have no words to express how much Bambanani Tirisano Youth Development appreciated your effort. We also like to thank the Gauteng Department of Environment for being supportive since day one; from the bottom of our hearts, we want to say thank you,” concluded Moloi.
