SEBOKENG.- Peace Day Care Centre recently hosted a successful community outreach programme in Boiketlong to mark Mandela Day.

The event brought together local organisations, dedicated volunteers, and residents to make a meaningful difference in the lives of vulnerable families and children in the area.

Principal Patricia Lephoto explained to Sedibeng Ster that the initiative is centred on a soup kitchen that serves warm, nutritious meals to children and community members. Alongside the hot food, organisers distributed clothes and essential items to families in need, demonstrating how small acts of kindness can spark lasting change.

The day was made possible through the teamwork of SmartStart practitioners and CRDC members, who donated their time and resources. Key corporate partners, including Standard Bank and Debonairs Pizza, also provided significant donations.

Lephoto noted that these partnerships highlighted the vital role businesses play in supporting local development and helping those in need.

Reflecting on the event, Lephoto shared that Mandela Day serves as a reminder of everyone’s power to make a difference.
