SEBOKENG. – A murder case is being investigated after the Sebokeng police were summoned at an open veld behind Boiketlong flats, in Sebokeng on Thursday.

On arrival they were informed about a gruesome discovery of an infant.

He was busy with his daily gardening chores behind the flats, when he saw many flies.

Police spokesperson, Sergeant Nthabiseng Mokhachane, said that it is alleged, by a passerby, that he was busy with his daily gardening chores behind the flats, when he saw many flies and sensed an unpleasant smell.

He then went to inspect, and that is when he found a lifeless body of an infant lying on the stomach.

He thought it was a doll.

“He further alleged that at first he thought it was a doll, but became suspicious when he saw that the head was smashed/ burst open.”

Emergency Medical Services was contacted and they verified that the found body is indeed that of human body. They further confirmed that it is new born girl and was declared dead on the scene.

The body was taken to Forensic Pathology Services for further investigation.
