EVATON.- The Gauteng Executive Council, led by Premier Panyaza Lesufi, hosted an Imbizo at Mafatsane Hall in Evaton on Wednesday.

The engagement was meant to engage residents on key service delivery challenges affecting them.

The engagement was attended by Lesufi, Sedibeng District Municipality (SDM) Executive Mayor, Lerato Maloka, Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) Executive Mayor, Hassan Mako, Members of the Executive Council (MECs), Members of the Mayoral Committee (MMCs), and representatives from Eskom.

During the engagement, residents identified electricity as their primary concern, highlighting load reduction, prolonged power outages, billing challenges, and the growing backlog of faulty transformers.

Addressing the gathering, Mako said:

“Our residents cannot continue to live in darkness. The constant transformer failures and power outages are crippling our communities. We are calling for urgent interventions from Eskom and the Gauteng Provincial Government. The people of Emfuleni deserve a reliable and sustainable electricity supply.”

Mako reaffirmed that the municipality will continue engaging all relevant stakeholders to ensure that practical solutions are implemented and that communities experience tangible improvements in electricity service delivery.
