EVATON.- Following a recent anniversary celebration in Kliptown, Soweto, the Afrika Mayibuye Movement marked its first anniversary over the weekend with a well-attended gathering in Evaton.

Hosted at the Rivers of Living Waters Ministries, the event served as the official platform for the movement’s Sedibeng branch to introduce its mayoral and councillor candidates to local communities.

Both leaders strongly emphasised the movement’s dedication to ethical leadership.

National deployees Patrick Sindane, serving as National Organiser, and Archbishop Bafana Zondo, the Chaplain General, led the proceedings. Both leaders strongly emphasised the movement’s dedication to ethical leadership, community empowerment, and effective service delivery.

Addressing supporters and hopeful candidates, Sindane recalled the commitments made during community consultations.

He underlined that the movement was established to distinguish itself from traditional political formations by prioritising public interest over personal gain.

He issued a firm warning against corruption, greed, and nepotism, reminding attendees that public office must never be treated as a tool for self-enrichment.

” Instead, candidates standing under the Afrika Mayibuye banner must act as public servants rather than bosses.”

The following mayoral candidates were formally introduced:

-Sedibeng District Municipality: Apostle Nthako

-Emfuleni Local Municipality: Bishop Vincent Jones

-Lesedi Local Municipality: Siphiwe Tshoari

-Midvaal Local Municipality: Sir Johannes Moahlodi

“Service to communities must not begin only after being sworn into office. Communities are facing numerous challenges today and expect leadership that provides solutions now.”

Emphasising action, Sindane told Sedibeng Ster that community service cannot wait until after the swearing-in ceremony.

“With residents facing numerous daily challenges, leadership must provide solutions now.”

Candidates were urged to stay actively involved in their neighbourhoods, offering assistance and servant leadership well ahead of election day.

“As Afrika Mayibuye Movement marks its first anniversary, the Movement remains committed to advancing total freedom, economic emancipation, ethical governance and people-centred development throughout Sedibeng and across South Africa.”
