SHARPEVILLE.- Although the South African Communist Party’s (SACP) Election Manifesto Launch event that was supposed to take place at the Rhoda Yende Community Hall in Sharpeville over the weekend was postponed, the party released the names of the candidate ward councillors on Sunday.

The SACP, an alliance of the ruling party, the ANC, is contesting in the 2026 Local Government Elections (LGE) as a stand-alone party.

SACP Vaal District Secretary, Thembinkosi Pulu, said that they have registered Ward Councillor and Public Representatives (PR) candidates in all the wards of the Vaal.

The Election Manifesto Launch will now be held on September 27 at the Rhoda Yende Hall in Sharpeville

“We are contesting state power from the ANC and its coalition partners. We will be fielding not just members of the SACP but also credible community leaders willing to save our municipalities,” Pulu said.
