Sharpeville-born star Relebohile Mofokeng named Betway Premiership Player of the Month

Mofokeng’s soccer career has been remarkable since he graduated from Sharpeville’s dusty soccer ground.

SHARPEVILLE.- Relebohile Mofokeng once again has proved to be the hottest property in South African soccer at the moment.

This Sharpeville-born sensational forward scooped the Betway Premiership League’s Player of the Month for January/February. Mofokeng has made a strong comeback after an injury that sidelined him for a few games.

He has been outstanding for Orlando Pirates for the past two months, helping the team claim the top spot in the Premier League’s log standings. The stats don’t lie; Mofokeng is the most creative player in the league at the moment. He is the player that Pirates can rely on to win the league title at the end of the season.

Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns are tied at the top, but separated by goal differences.

Mofokeng is the reason Pirates find themselves challenging Sundowns for the race title this season.

To top his performance, Mofokeng is expected to be in the Bafana Bafana team when Coach Hugo Broos announces his World Cup preliminary squad.

He has proved beyond a reasonable doubt that he deserves to be among the players going to the World Cup. This Player of the Month award will serve as motivation to work even harder to convince Broos that he deserves a place on the team.

Mofokeng’s soccer career has been remarkable since he graduated from Sharpeville’s dusty soccer ground.

He comes from the same township that produced soccer greats such as former Bafana Bafana dreadlocks midfielder, Augustine Makalakalane, and the late Simon ‘Bull’ Lehoko.
