VEREENIGING.-  JJ Sporting FC and Vaal Elite Sports Academy (VESA) will meet in the much-anticipated Gauteng Development League (GDL) Stream B derby.

This local development derby is scheduled to take place at the Dick Fourie Stadium in Vereeniging.

Kick-off time is 09:00.

The two local academies are challenging for promotion at the end of the season. Both teams have a good chance for promotion to Stream A if their current performance and standing are anything to go by.

JJ Sporting FC and VESA have been campaigning in the GDL Stream B for quite some time now, with eyes on promotion to Stream A.

It is every team’s dream to play in Stream A, which consists of powerhouse development teams such as Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns, Jomo Cosmos, SuperSport, School of Excellence, Panorama FC, and Remember Elite Sports Academy (RESA), to mention a few.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Tyrone Koller said this will be an exciting fixture.

The two academies will play against each other in the following age groups: U13, U14, U15, U17, and U19. He said it will be football galore with JJ Sporting FC as the hosting team.

Doing well with all age groups

“This season, we want to gain promotion to Stream A, and so far, I think we are doing well with all of our age groups. The game against our neighbours is going to be exciting because they are also doing well in the league,” said Koller.

Koller urges the Vereeniging community to come in numbers to support both teams on Saturday.
