Bafana to face Nicaragua in World Cup send-off clash

SEDIBENG.- Bafana Bafana will host Nicaragua in an international friendly match on Friday, May 29.

This international friendly match is a send-off for Bafana Bafana ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026, hosted by the United States of America, Canada, and Mexico, from June 11 to July 19.

This send-off friendly match will take place at Orlando Stadium on May 29.

Kick-off time is 18:00.

Families and fans urged to come in numbers

The South African Football Association (SAFA) urges families and soccer fans to come in their numbers to give the players and technical staff a decent send-off. Bafana Bafana Coach Hugo Broos has already named his preliminary squad. He is expected to announce his final team for the FIFA World Cup on May 27.

Local boys part of the team

Orlando Pirates youngsters Relebohile Mofokeng, Tshepang Moremi, and Thapelo Maseko are three players from the Vaal Triangle who are part of this preliminary squad.

The trio might book their tickets to the World Cup when Broos announces his final team. There are already plans by their families and friends to go to the stadium for the send-off. There are also plans by local authorities to give these youngsters, especially Mofokeng and Moremi, a proper send-off. 

SAFA Sedibeng President Solly Mkhabela will be among the SAFA national executive delegates attending this send-off international friendly matches.
