SEDIBENG.- The second annual Relebohile Mofokeng Soccer Tournament is scheduled to kick off at the James/Pepsi ground in Sharpeville this weekend.

The Orlando Pirates forward started his own amateur football career on these very dusty grounds in Sharpeville long before the world witnessed his talent. While not everyone anticipated he would become a household name when he first started, the young star is now the talk of the football world following his impressive Fifa World Cup 2026 debut against Czechia.

The tournament caters to junior teams at U13, U15, and U17 levels, as well as seniors, masters, and women’s football teams.

Mofokeng launched his foundation last year at an event attended by the who’s who of the sporting world. Former Bafana Bafana and Kaizer Chiefs favourite Dr Doctor Khumalo was among the notable faces who honoured the invitation.

The competition gives local youngsters a valuable platform to showcase their talent against each other.

Before that launch, a hive of activities was organised in conjunction with FARPost Media, including soccer coaching clinics for local youngsters and school children, alongside workshops for coaches.
