EVATON. – The Evaton police in partnership with community stakeholders, successfully hosted a ‘Sports Against Crime’ event in Evaton North over the weekend.

The event was held as part of ongoing initiatives aimed at promoting crime prevention, social cohesion, and healthy lifestyles among community members, particularly the youth.

The event featured thrilling soccer and netball matches, bringing together local teams, community members, SAPS officials, and various stakeholders in a united effort to strengthen the relationship between the police and the community.

“The initiative served as a platform to encourage young people to participate in positive recreational activities, helping to steer them away from crime, substance abuse, and other social challenges while promoting teamwork, discipline, and mutual respect,” said police spokesperson, Constable Thulisile Msibi.

The Station Commander of Evaton SAPS, Brigadier Sibuyi, expressed sincere appreciation to all stakeholders, community organisations, schools, sports teams, Community Policing Forum (CPF), volunteers, and residents who contributed to the success of the event.

“Your commitment and partnership with SAPS continue to make a meaningful difference in building a safer Evaton. Together, we can create opportunities for our youth and strengthen community participation in the fight against crime,” said Brigadier Sibuyi.
