SEBOKENG.- “They went, saw and conquered.”

The Vaal Dojo Karate Club swept the podium clean when they collected every trophy in almost every division.

It was a winning record, with all the fighters coming back home with medals and trophies for their outstanding performance. This was during the IKOMatsumishima South Africa Tournament held in Soweto over the weekend.

The nine fighters who managed to bring the medals and trophies home include Sipho Mkwanazi, Zanele Selami, Bella Mokoena, Sthembiso Nhlapo, Lesedi Ntsala, Amohelang Radebe, Nozipho Khumalo, Tshenolo Serapelo and Nthabeleng Mosia. The above-mentioned fighters were representing their club in different categories.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, Lerato Mohanoe said this was the best performance displayed by these individual fighters. Mohanoe said these results reflected a month of hard work, discipline, and dedication from both young and senior members of the club.

We will use this tournament as motivation going to Durban.

He revealed to Sedibeng Ster Sport that after this remarkable achievement, the focus will now shift in preparation for the national championships scheduled to take place in Durban on August 29-30. The four fighters heading to Durban are Bongani Mkwayi, Mpho Ngo, Lerato Mohanoe and Madela Mkwayi.

Mohanoe told Sedibeng Ster Sport that they will use this tournament as motivation going to Durban. He was full of praise for his fighters for their never-die spirit, which conquered the tournament in Soweto.

“Every single fighter brought home a trophy for the club, making a 100% clean sheet record for the day. We were celebrating all the way home from Soweto with parents, fighters and coaches. This was a moment for everyone because they really worked hard to achieve these results. It is not as if it was easy. No, we were up against the best in Gauteng, but we came into this tournament well prepared. It was a job well done to all of our fighters on the day. They were unbelievable in all the age categories,” said Mohanoe.
