Town Stars FC secures promotion to SAFA Sedibeng Hollywoodbets Regional League
"They really did us proud in difficult circumstances, and they never gave up."
SEDIBENG.- There were hugs and kisses on Saturday as Two Stars FC, also known as Stars FC or Town Stars FC, defied all the odds to secure promotion to the SAFA Sedibeng Hollywoodbets Men’s Regional League for the 2026/2027 season.
The team competed alongside other local sides at the SAFA Regional play-offs held at Meyerton Stadium.
The promotional play-offs featured teams from three local football associations, namely Lesedi, Midvaal, and Emfuleni. Emfuleni Local Football Association (ELFA) was represented by Stars FC and Vaal Inter FC, but only Stars FC succeeded in earning promotion.

Speaking to Sedibeng Ster Sport, a jubilant Zakhele ‘Zakes’ Mtshali said that the promotion was long overdue after several previous attempts had failed. He expressed confidence that his squad is fully prepared to compete against the best teams in the regional league.
We wouldn’t have made it without your support.
“They really did us proud in difficult circumstances, but they never gave up. We want to thank the Emfuleni Local Football Association leadership for their vital support during the play-offs, we wouldn’t have made it without your support,” said Mtshali.
ELFA Chairperson Jabu Mgcina congratulated the club on their success, expressing pride that a team from their association advanced to the regional level.
“We wish Stars FC management, coaches and players all the best in their journey in the bigger league,” he said.
