Mofokeng and his teammates will now shift their focus to their upcoming league match.

SHARPEVILLE.- Bafana Bafana star Relebohile Mofokeng’s club, Royale Saint-Gilloise, has been eliminated from the UEFA Champions League.

The 21-year-old Sharpeville-born soccer star made his highly-anticipated Champions League debut, coming on as a substitute in the 91st minute of extra time during their third qualifying round against Norwegian side Bodo/Glimt in Norway on August 11.

Mofokeng’s side ultimately lost 3-2 after extra time, with a 6-5 aggregate. It was a goal-thriller tie after the two sides played to a 3-3 draw in the first leg in Belgium.

The 10-man Saint-Gilloise side put up a brave fight but was ultimately eliminated from this competition.

Much was said ahead of this encounter, with huge expectations that Mofokeng would start the game after his impressive Belgian Pro League debut against KVC Westerlo.

He scored his first goal of the season coming off the bench when Saint-Gilloise beat Westerlo 5-1 in the opening game of the season.

Mofokeng and his teammates will now shift their focus to their upcoming league match against Zulte Waregem on August 15 after being eliminated from the UEFA Champions League.

Saint-Gilloise will hope to continue their impressive league form as they are now at the top of the Belgian Pro League log table.
