Maseko makes Danish Superliga debut
With the Bafana Bafana squad set to be announced for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, Maseko is among the players expected to get a call-up.
SEDIBENG.- Vaal-born young star Thapelo Maseko made his much-anticipated debut for FC Copenhagen in the Danish Superliga over the weekend.
Maseko came off the bench as his side suffered a heavy 4-0 defeat to Viborg FF. Despite coming on as a substitute, Maseko made an immediate impact during his limited time on the pitch.
Maseko was in demand, with local and European clubs chasing his signature.
This Sebokeng-born star joined FC Copenhagen on a four-year deal from Mamelodi Sundowns.
The move happened after the FIFA World Cup 2026, which left Maseko in limbo and forced him to train alone to keep himself fit despite his standout performance for Bafana Bafana.
It was not long before he secured the move to the Danish club. In fact, Maseko was in demand, with local and European clubs chasing his signature. He could have joined one of the local big teams, but his contract with Sundowns did not allow it.

FC Copenhagen is expected to bounce back when they play against FC Inter Turku in the Europa Conference League second leg on Thursday. The two teams played to a goalless draw in the first leg, and kick-off time is at 19:00.
Maseko could start the game considering his impressive performance in the previous match despite his limited time.
Maseko’s team will be back in a Danish Superliga match hosting Sonderjyske on August 31. This is another opportunity for the Bafana Bafana player to start the game. Sedibeng Ster Sport will follow Maseko’s progress in the upcoming matches.
