SEDIBENG. – Vaal young stars Thapelo Maseko, Relebohile Mofokeng and Tshepang Moremi are back together in the Bafana Bafana squad that will face Eritrea in an Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier at Al-Salam Stadium in Cairo on Wednesday, September 30.

This will be the second qualifying match for Bafana Bafana after their impressive start, when they beat Guinea at home at Orlando Amstel Arena on September 26. This was Pitso Mosimane’s first game in charge as Bafana Bafana coach.

This was the start he was looking for to boost his team’s confidence ahead of their next game against the little-known Eritrea.

The Vaal Tripple ‘M’ is complete after Moremi was called up to replace Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Lebohang Maboe, who suffered an ankle injury.

The Orlando Pirates forward, Moremi, was initially not part of the Bafana Bafana squad until Maboe was unfortunately withdrawn from the team due to injury. These Vaal young stars have been part of Bafana Bafana’s success under Hugo Broos.

Mofokeng and Moremi, who ply their trade abroad in Denmark and Belgium respectively, said it was great to be back home to do duty for their country.

Both Mofokeng and Maseko were in the starting line-up against Guinea and are expected to start the game on Wednesday. Mofokeng could have scored on Saturday but was let down by his first touch with only the goalkeeper to beat.

He is known for his composure in front of goal, regardless of the pressure from his markers. He is one player you can bet your last cent on, especially in this kind of situation, to score.

The duo has been in top form for their respective teams, with Mofokeng enjoying his career at Royale Union Saint-Gilloise and Maseko at FC Copenhagen. They need to transfer this form to Bafana Bafana come Wednesday.
