SEDIBENG.- Due to traffic congestion on roads in our area, particularly during peak hours the Emfuleni Local Municipality has seen it fit to have traffic points-men at busy and congested roads.
ELM’s Stanley Gaba told Sedibeng Ster that travelling in the early mornings and late afternoons has increased significantly in recent years and that the increasing number of road users means that the municipality must improve visibility of traffic officers who must also attend to other related duties including accident scenes and traffic control during protests, among others.
“It is for this reason that the municipality initiated a process to appoint a service provider in a private public partnership to have traffic points-men at all busy roads to assist with the flow of traffic to protect all road-users, especially pedestrian young learners who are crossing busiest roads on their way and back from their respective schools.”
The service provider, Traffic Easy Flow, will be responsible for the project in its entirety, from recruitment to implementation.
