Man killed when truck and car collide

SASOLBURG.- A man in his 40s was killed this morning when his light motor vehicle collided with a truck on the R59 in Sasolburg.

At approximately 05h00, ER24 paramedics arrived on the scene to find a smouldering truck on the side of the road while a light motor vehicle was found parked a short distance away.

It is understood that the truck had burst into flame upon collision with the light motor vehicle. The driver was able to escape without injury. On closer inspection, medics found a man believed to be in his 40s lying trapped inside the light motor vehicle. Unfortunately, the man had already succumbed to his numerous injuries. Nothing could be done for him, and he was declared dead. The details surrounding this incident are not yet known, but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
