SEDIBENG.-  The Deaf Community Project will host awareness campaigns. This was revealed to Sedibeng Ster by the organization’s Co-operative Chairperson Vuyani Nel. Speaking to Sedibeng Ster, Nel said  that September is known as Deaf Awareness Month.
The Deaf Community Project will organise awareness activities throughout the month of September in celebrating and creating awareness for deaf community.
“We are a non-governmental organization that helps the government to create awareness and educate the community about deaf people within their community. We organise activities to celebrate and conduct public awareness and information campaigns to educate people about deafness. We also challenge all governments department to take note of the deaf community in the public places such as clinics, public transport, police stations for sign language interpreter,” said Nel.
Nel also sent a strong message to the community to stop abusing deaf people in their communities.
