ER24 reports that a woman was killed and a 14-month-old critically injured last night when their light motor vehicle rolled and crashed into a tree on the R54 in Vaal Marina. ER24 Paramedics arrived shortly after 19h00 to find another service already in attendance.

“A light motor vehicle was found upright on the side of the road against a tree. The Provincial Fire Services had already extricated a man, woman and baby from the car.

“Medics assessed the patients and found that the woman and the 14-month-old girl had sustained numerous injuries and were in a critical condition. The man had fortunately escaped injury. The woman and baby were treated and provided with advanced life support interventions.

“Patients were transported to nearby hospitals for further care. Unfortunately, on route to the hospital, the woman succumbed to her injuries.”

Local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
