WATCH: Truck bursts into flames near N2 at Wilson’s Cutting, Port Shepstone

The truck's brakes allegedly failed causing it to veer off the road and down an embankment.

A truck driver was fortunate to jump out of the vehicle before it set alight on the N2 at Wilson’s Cutting, between Port Shepstone and Izingolweni late last night.

Glen Preston from Med-Evac said paramedics and the Ray Nkonyeni Municipal Fire Department was on the scene at about 9pm.

“The driver was on his way to Kokstad when his brakes reportedly failed and the vehicle went down an embankment at Wilson’s Cutting, about some 40 metres to the bottom,” explained Mr Preston.

“Just before the vehicle came to a halt he jumped out and community members pulled him to the side. He was transported to hospital.”
