Mid-ams find Scottburgh tricky test of golf
Clayton Mansfield's 69 was good enough to win by five shots from Tiaan Bekker (Selborne Park) on 74.
Mid-amateur golf action came to Scottburgh Golf Club recently, where the top KZN players took on the short but deceptively difficult layout.
Clayton Mansfield (Mount Edgecombe CC), who previously campaigned on the Sunshine Tour before regaining his amateur status, was the only player who could match par.
His 69 was good enough to win by five shots from Tiaan Bekker (Selborne Park) on 74. Grant Olivier (Drakensberg Gardens) was next on 75, with Terence Hope (Simbithi CC) in fourth place on 76.
Two players had 77, namely Mark Cowie (Amanzimtoti) and Jan McDermott (Umdoni Park).
Then came Mark Olivier (Drakensberg Gardens) on 78 before the scores tipped over into the 80s, with one even in the 90s.
In other golf news, Selborne Park will host round three of the Southern KZN Handicap League on July 26.
The fourth round is at Umdoni Park on Sunday, August 23 with the final round at Margate CC on Sunday, September 6.
