Devotees celebrate Krishna Janmashtami in Port Shepstone
The festival was hosted by the International Society for Krishna Consciousness Port Shepstone.
It was an early celebration of Krishna Janmashtami for the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) Port Shepstone last Saturday.
The event was held at the Andhra Sabha Hall in Port Shepstone, and attended by many devotees, who took part in bhajans, kirtans, and discourses on the Bhagavad Gita.
The special guest speaker was Smita Krishna Das.
“Lord Krishna appears whenever and wherever there is a decline in religious practice. He delivers the pious and destroys the miscreants to re-establish the principles of religion,” said Rajen Mahabeer from Iskcon Port Shepstone.
ISKCON branches celebrate before the set date (September 4) to attend the main celebration at the Sri Sri Radha Radhanath Temple in Durban.
Devotees of Lord Krishna celebrate this auspicious festival by fasting and holding bhakti (devotional) events.
Guests were treated to a delicious vegetarian meal.
