Another great musical weekend at The Rock

 

UMZUMBE’S famous The Rock Music Bistro has put together another weekend jam-packed with really great South African music.

The weekend starts with a performance by an incredibly popular up and coming Durban band, ‘NJE’, tomorrow (Friday) from 7pm. Ard Matthews from Just Jinjer asked ‘NJE’ to be the support band for the recent Just Jinjer South African tour, so this is a gig that you won’t want to miss.

The four-piece afro, funk, rock outfit was formed in Durban in 2012. The musicians have all been plying their trade at various venues and festivals while writing new music and recording their debut self-titled EP, due for release soon.

Vintage rocker and legendary South African musician Brian Finch will be back on stage at The Rock this Saturday from 6pm. A recording artist, singer, songwriter and tireless stage solo performer, he has over 40 years of solo performances to his credit. He also spent some 10 years with friend and music partner, the late Kenny E Henson; together they formed the renowned Finch and Henson duo.

On Sunday, Durban’s pop sensation Rowan Stuart will be there. Rowan, whose music is so beautiful, will be jamming from 1.30pm.
