Elderly man drowns in Pennington
According to reports, the man fell into the water after a big wave hit.
An inquest has been opened at Scottburgh Saps after a 61-year-old man drowned at a beach in Pennington on August 30.
Reports indicate that the man was picking mussels from the rocks when a big wave hit.
He then lost his balance, fell into the water, and washed into the sea.
It is believed that family members attempted to rescue him to no avail.
He later washed onto the shore, was not responding, and had bruises throughout his body.
Emergency services attended the scene.
