Artist Bob McKenzie to hold oil on canvas workshop

Lovers and appreciators of art are invited to join the amazing Bob McKenzie for an oil on canvas demonstration at Artists’ Gallery this Saturday, April 21 at 10am. Entry fee is R80 per person which includes a cup of tea or coffee and a slice of cake.

The well-known painter’s journey started at the age of 13 years. He used to sneak into the studio of Leslie Elliott, whom he considered one of the greatest painters of that time – the late 50s to 70s. Exposure to him meant exposure to the likes of Walter Gilbert Wiles, Errol Boyley and Roworth, who all painted together from time to time. The mix of loose realism and impressionism formed the basis of his early work.

Later he was fortunate enough to meet his ultimate mentor, Dino Paravano. “Not only a great painter but one of the most generous people one could meet,” explained Bob.

Bob has a gallery and studio in Port Alfred, from which he works and runs numerous workshops. He also travels the country and Zimbabwe extensively giving workshops. To book a seat, call Diane Erasmus at 082 495981.
