Help clean up Hibberdene for the holidays

THE Hibberdene Business Forum’s second annual beach clean-up and family fun day will take place on Saturday, December 6.

The clean-up is being held to get the town looking good for holidaymakers. Everybody is urged to pre-register for the two-hour clean-up, which is restricted to 150 people.

There will be 12 teams, each headed by a leader. No volunteers under the age of 12 are allowed. Gloves and packets will be supplied. The clean-up will start at 7am.

A meal, donated by Hibberdene Spar and cooked by Jolly Roger Pub and Restaurant, will be provided afterwards.

However, there will be lots on the go for everyone to enjoy, including a craft market, belly dancing from Harem Secrets belly dancers, a fashion show by Lee Models, a pooch competition and dog show, displays by the National Sea Rescue Institute and Tower 13 lifesavers, a kite display and lots of entertainment for the children on the beachfront. The band Due South will provide entertainment.

On the day, the Lower South Coast SPCA will launch its 311 campaign aimed at small businesses. You don’t have to be a big business to help make a difference at the SPCA. On the day, you can sign up at the SPCA stand and become part of the annual animal assistance programme for a yearly donation of R311. Once your business has signed up and paid the R311, it receives a certificate.

Hibberdene SuperSpar will be sponsoring 200 bags of dog food and the public is encouraged to purchase the food at a reduced price and donate it to SPCA.

All bikers are invited to do a ‘tin run’ – and can join the festivities at Hibberdene beachfront. Bikers are asked to support the SPCA by donating a tin of cat food. Parking will be provided.
