Catch these local vibes at Port Shepstone Country Club
BACK by popular demand, Bernie’s Band of Madhatters and Misfits ( you can call the band BBoMM for short) returns to the Port Shepstone Country Club this Sunday, March 29, from 1pm.
It is a free gig, with the hard-hat being passed around for contributions for the musicians. Guests are requested to bring old clothes, tools and non-perishable items that will be distributed to the needy along the South Coast.
There will be an excellent menu of reasonably-priced lunches and snacks available. David Marx will host the musical afternoon. Booking is advised.
There are two Bernies in this madhatter local band. Dr Bernie James plays the drums alongside Bernie ‘bass man’ Chambers. Singers and guitarists Sam Selmer-Olsen and Elaine Wareing team up with occasional vocalist and djembe drummer Tonya (she only uses her first name as a performer), who also does a bit of fire dancing.
They are all local, enthusiastic, part-time musicians from various professions. They play a selection of retro rock ’n pop music to which you can listen, sing or dance. The band also offers some home-grown originals that Elaine has composed over the years.
