Club to host crayfish compo
THE Hibiscus Underwater Club (HUC) is hosting a ‘Crayfish Comp’ on Saturday, September 13.
Johann Prinsloo, chairman of HUC, said the club has turned a new page. “We are over all the past politics and issues and are in the process of growing and renewing the club once again,” he said.
He said the aim is to get the club back to its former ‘glory days’, with regular news in the media, and the producing of provincial and national divers. There are also plans to get the underwater hockey team going again.
The exciting competition is open to all divers, and the first 40 entries will get a T-shirt. Divers can dive anywhere between Durban and Port Edward on the day.
The weigh in will be at the Scottburgh Country Club at 12.30pm, and a valid licence needs to be presented. Divers will donate their catch to the braai, so bring your family and enjoy a great day out. A cash bar will be available, plus music, a jumping castle for the children, and so much more.
First prize, for the biggest crayfish, will be a wetsuit plus many other fantastic prizes.
So far, loads of sponsors have come aboard to make the day a huge success. The club is also looking for businesses to sponsor the tournament’s T-shirts.
Entries are available from Freedivers Durban, Freedivers South Coast (Tacklebox Shelly Beach).
