It’s German bazaar time again

MAKE sure you don’t miss one of the South Coast’s biggest annual cultural events, the Bethanien Lutheran Church German Bazaar.

This traditional German celebration for all South Coasters takes place at the Bethanien Church Hall on August 30, starting at 9.30am. The popular meat sale, which offers all sorts of tasty meat and German sausages and specialities, starts at 11am, but make sure you are in the queue early as these sales attract big crowds.

As usual, guests can enjoy first class coffee and a range of traditional German cakes at the kaffeestube. You can also buy traditional cakes like botterkuchen at the well-patronised cake stall.

There will be a white elephant and all sorts of other interesting stalls, children’s entertainment and food outlets selling pancakes, kartoffelpuffer and other German treats. Lunches will be available, too.

Something new this year will be the tours of the church, with local history buffs talking about its history.
