‘The Jazz Minkeys’ to perform at Azalea Hall

An extraordinary music performance is on the cards, as lovers of jazz are invited to a night with The Jazz Minkeys at Margate Retirement Village on Saturday, March 24.

The Jazz Minkeys is a vibrant new eight-piece jazz show band with a line-up which features cream-of-the-crop KwaZulu-Natal musicians, including band leader Daniel Sheldon, who has been a familiar face on the local jazz scene for 15 years and features on trumpet and flugelhorn. Sharing the role of band leader is Tom Hare on sax, flute and trumpet.

Ildo Nandja is on bass, Riley Giandhari is on drums and music lecturer, Neil Gonsalves, joins the team on piano. Popular Demi Fernandez plays jazz and flamenco guitar. On vocals are Zoe Masuku and 2016 Idols Top 8 finalist Nosihle Zulu. Zoe also handles guitar for the group.

The colourful Durban musicians come with rave reviews of great music such as ‘Egyptian Ella’, ‘Cry me a River’, ‘House of the Rising Sun’, and many more.

The show starts at 6pm and will be staged at Azalea Hall, Margate Retirement Village’s attractive and well-appointed mini theatre. Tickets are R85 per person and will be available from the village’s Residents’ Activities Committee (RAC) and admin offices from Monday, March 5.
