Karou Charou makes a welcome return
CATCH the enigmatic and charismatic Karou Charou in his brand new one-man production, ‘Ma-Dhir’, at the Port Shepstone Civic Centre on Friday, July 18 at 8pm.
As usual, expect him to be at his brashest, unapologetic best, allowing him to get away with just about anything on stage. His famous ‘F’ bombs flow thick and fast. He respects no sacred cows, takes no prisoners and warns sensitive people to stay at home.
With less than five years in the industry Karou has achieved what most can only dream of. With 24 sold-out shows, he holds a record at Sibaya Casino. Apart from Riaad Moosa, he is the only Indian comedian to achieve sold-out successes at the Lyric Theatre at Gold Reef City and Theatre of Marcellus at Emperors Palace.
In recent years he has toured the country and performed for multiracial audiences in places like Witbank, Nelspruit, Mabopane and Thohoyandou.
As with all his shows, ‘Ma-Dhir’ is not your basic stand-up comedy show. Karou is a master in the art of entertainment and he aims to take his audience on a hilarious 90-minute roller coaster ride. True to form he wanders off stage to engage in unscripted yet hilarious banter with the audience.
Karou has been hard at work honing his hypnosis skills and he attempts to cure members of the audience of nasty habits, like smoking, live on stage.
With music, song, dance, magic, hypnosis and a bit of comedy, it is almost like a Bollywood movie – just a few hours shorter, and without subtitles.
Tickets for the show are available at Bond Jewellers (039 6821379) or Function World (039 6820011) at R80 each or buy them for R100 at the door.
