Learn how to attract birds to your garden

THE next environmental lecture at Crocworld Conservation Centre will be on October 11 and will feature renowned horticulturalist Geoff Nichols.

Something of an authority when it comes to indigenous plants, Geoff worked for the Durban Parks Department for 21 years and has amassed several diplomas in agriculture, horticulture, and Parks and Recreation administration.

He also pioneered the cultivation of indigenous medicinal plants at Silverglen Medicinal Plant Nursery. In 1996, his passion for indigenous gardening and the reintroduction of native species to urban areas sparked the birth of his own horticultural consultancy.

Geoff will be sharing his considerable gardening expertise and advice on planting of bird-friendly indigenous species in private gardens. In keeping with the overall aim of the centre’s monthly talk programme, this lecture educates about South Africa’s unique flora and fauna, and of the South Coast especially.

Guests should aim to arrive at Crocworld Conservation Centre for 8.30am, in time for registration and welcoming before the talk itself begins at 9am. Tickets are priced at R70 per person with a discounted price of R30 for pensioners, students and scholars and includes the admission into Crocworld Conservation Centre.
