It’s all about the music

The Ugu Summer Music Festival which falls under the umbrella of the Hibiscus Coast Summer Beach Festival, takes place o at St Michael’s beachfront on December 15 and 16.

 The Ugu Summer Music Festival is unique in that it provides a memorable celebration of the music segment of the creative industries within the region and the KwaZulu-Natal province whilst simultaneously incorporating craft as part of the festival. The event provides a feast of entertainment and a platform for local artists.

Aiming to promote local music in its entirety in a variety of genres, it gives local musicians a platform to perform alongside recorded artists. It also enables independent craft organizations to trade in order to enhance their impact on the local economic development strategy of the South Coast. Ultimately this event forms part of the many developmental initiatives taking place on the South Coast.

This event is a platform for developing new artists and encourages a search for undiscovered local talent. It also encourages participation of national music role players in branding and trade activities to give further confidence to the entry level participants. The festival enjoys an integration of people, communities, and cultures coming from rural and urban environments and attracts support from visitors throughout the province and further afield.

Whilst having a small part to play in this occasion, Ugu South Coast Tourism sees support of this event as an imperative way to develop the arts in the region and wishes the artists and organisers a highly successful event.
